I’m going to Scotland (hopefully in a year or so). I’ve always been fascinated with castles & the whole Scottish culture. What is the best time of year to go & what region is best? I’m really thinking of going to the Highlands. I don’t want to go to a big “city”–I want to visit the smaller towns & the countryside. I also want to stay in a small bed & breakfast. I would love to stay in a castle, but I don’t know of any available. What are some sights I need to see? Any help is greatly appreciated!
First of all, this is not meant to be ****** in ANY way, I SWEAR !!! I’m about half Native American, part Scottish & part French, so if I was racist, I’d have to hate myself !
It seems to me that Native Americans and African Americans are similar, in that a big part of their native cultures and beliefs involve music & dancing. Cermonies, holidays, etc.
So my question is, just about anyone can name a famous African American singer, dancer, or actor, but there are relatively few Native American singers or dancers that are well known outside of their communities. I’m curious, why ?
Is it because Native Americans condsider these things sacred & don’t care to share them with the outside world ? Would they consider that “selling out” ?
I really would like to know. Obviously, I’m mainly looking for answers from Native Americans.
Both my son and husband have Asian looking eyes. My husband is of Scottish heritage and someone once told us that there were invasions on Scotland a long time ago that explained thiese features. However, I have looked in the web and cannot find anything. Can someone illuminate me?
My mum was telling me about how she spent a week with some friends in a spooky converted castle sort of holiday home in the Scottish borders in the 70s. It had a picture with a story about the house on it, but she couldn’t remember what it said. There are two pictures of this home I have given the Youtube link to. If you know where this home is or what it is called, I might be able to find out what the story says. Thanks!
Hi, I missed out on flying on the hovercraft in Edinburgh this summer. Anyone know of hovercraft flights elsewhere in Scotland, or if this one is going to return? Thanks.

they are lazy and stupid
they do not want to make a scene or bother anyone

they believe everything in America is perfect
Might I just add first that I am also Irish, and if you’re Scottish, Welsh, Cornish or Manx this applies to you too:
What would you think of having English neighbours?
I would not like it at all, I don’t mind them holidaying here or having English friends (actually I do have an English penpal) but I absolutely abhor the idea of English people setting up home here. This includes people of EnglishDescent such as EnglishAmericans but not people who have lived in England of IrishDescent. My thinking on it is that we were only declared a republic sixty years ago and we are still very anglicanized, most obviously that most of us cant speak Irish (I can though, not from living in the gaelteacht, actually from listening in school).
We don’t allow people to buy a house in the Gaelteacht unless they speak Irish well enough because we don’t want the place becoming anglicanized I don’t see why the rules should change for the rest of Ireland. I can’t stand the idea of Ireland becoming a little England or America
So do you agree with me and why or why not ?
I know language isn’t the only thing but it’s the most obvious thing, it’s just the thing I used as an example. And I’m not including Cromwellian planters and such because they all converted to Catholicism which then was seen as ‘choosing Irishness’ I mean the English families coming here NOW
Typical. You all misunderstood me and some of you didn’t bother reading the question properly , materialistic amadans. It’s obvious the only claim any of you’s have to being Irish is blood and accent. Oh an I don’t care about Prodestants and Catholics, it was only back then that choosing Catholicism herewas seen as choosing Ireland which I already wrote so you’s obviously can’t read. So in that case I am very happily racist
I sleep for around 4-12 hours a day. 4 – 6 hours during school days and 6-12 during holidays and vacations.I have read in a few books that sleeping at around 10 pm and getting up at 4 or 5 am refreshes you and the quality of study that you do in the morning between 5 and 10 is twice that possible at any other time of day. I have also read a scottish proverb saying that if one cannot finish half a days work before 10 am, it is not possible to finish the remaining work in the same day with the same quality.I have also observed that old people, who have a habit of rising early in the morning retain their freshness and energy even untill the moment their head touches the pillow at night. (very few youngsters have this habit)
Currently, I sleep at 1 am and get up at any time between 5 and 1 pm. I usually force myself.Dinner is usually not ready in my household before 10 pm. Even I like to watch late night shows on TV or read books at night. My vacations r on for 16 weeks.I cn experiment nw
I want to get up at around 4.30 in the morning as I can use this time for reading and studying when college starts.
My ancestors got this very well… im having a prob,.. so please advice!
