Its not really a diamond, is a square in the middle of the O…….. And its not the SPL logo.

Curious Joe asked:

I was wondering if anyone can answer how many or approximatelly how many people are supporting the Republican movement (Sinn Fein, etc) in Glasgow because I have heard things about sectarianism, but also heard it is blown way out of proportion. HOw big are organisations like the WEst of Scotland Band Alliance etc? Thanks. Also I was wondering how big loyalism was in Glasgow?

My husband and I have just moved to Scotland. He is a keen golfer, but still learning. He enjoys having a fun day on a challenging course. I’d like to find a good book recommending courses to try out, but not just the best / famous ones – Carnoustie, Troon, St Andrews, etc – but the most fun, most unusual, etc courses. Have had a look on Amazon, but none look like what I am looking for. Any recommendations appreciated!

If you’re after the perfect destination for a romantic getaway for two, south-west Scotland could be the perfect place.

Couples have headed north of the border in the name of romance for years – Gretna Green is among the destinations with a long history of love, as many English couples eloped to Scotland due to its more relaxed marriage laws – and the south-west tip of the country still provides the ideal setting for a loved-up break.

Outdoorsy couples will love the myriad of activities on offer in the region. Among the many Scotland resorts is Turnberry, where golf lovers can play the game on a championship-ranked course.

Those who are keen to get out and about will find that the Isle of Arran – which can easily be reached from Ardrossan by ferry – provides a great opportunity for hiking through mountains and forests, as well as along the picturesque coast.

Arts lovers will also find plenty to like about south-west Scotland. Galloway towns such as Kirkcudbrite have been a haven for artists for many years and you can stop off at the Tolbooth Arts Centre to take in some of the works created by locals. And in Dumfries, why not treat your loved one to a day inspired by poetry by visiting some of the many landmarks associated with Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet.

And if you’re simply looking to get away from it all and reconnect with someone special in a romantic hotel, there are plenty in the region to choose from. One to consider is the first-class Knockinaam Lodge at Portpatrick, which is nestled among some Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes. Each room at the facility has its own unique decor and personality, which ensures your stay will be a memorable one.

Whatever you plan on doing during your couples’ break north of the border, south-west Scotland’s picturesque scenery, dramatic castles, dazzling coastlines and plenty of outdoor activities could provide the perfect setting for a truly romantic holiday.

My boyfriend isn’t able to keep his cat. He lives in Scotland. Would I be able to travel there and bring it back with me?

Steve D asked:

I want to travel to Japan to meet my penpal who is in Kawanishi (near Osaka Itami airport).

I have looked on various web-sites and the cheapest fare I can find is about £400 return.

NB I am in Scotland (near Edinburgh).

Has anyone got any suggestions as to how to get there as cheaply as possible? I was even wondering about getting a job on a cruise ship, but maybe it would take me the rest of my life to get there that way!

Thanks

The Mis-Adventures of Jayson and Sam, on our epically cool trip to Scotland, we decided to make some Skittles Vodka, after Jayson told me how he tried some once and it was really nice. Join us as we attempt and pretty much fail to recreate this wondrous drink that Jayson once had.
