Question posed by mrs.bean: what characters in macbeth were real characters in scottish history??
i need to know this for my homework and cant find it anywhere!
Most comprehensive answer:
Answer by Sage & Onion. Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a magnificent play, but as history it is nonsense. The characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth bear little resemblance to the real historical characters. Banquo as the founder of the Stewart line of kings had no existence in reality nor had Macduff who was credited with killing Macbeth in Shakespeare’s play.
I can either go to Ireland and Scotland or Germany and France for summer vacation in 2011, and I’m not sure which I should choose. Please help!!!
I cant make the decision because my family says that France is a dirty place, but Germany is awesome. Should I go to Germany and France and risk having a bad time, or just go to Ireland and Scotland, of which I have never heard anything negative?
I currently live in the United States, and I am used to, and love crazy weather.
Question posed by Bet: Who are some important people in Scottish history?
What did they do? If possible, please list a few good books about them.
In Scottish history, people who have shaped Scotland. Not Beckett! (No matter how cool he is, he’s fictional)
No 1 answer:
Answer by Arthur 111 Carson Beckett, he is the doctor on Stargate Atlantis who has saved countless lives.
James Watt: Helped improve the steam engine greatly.
And my personal favorite…..
Sean Connery: Connery is known for retaining his Scottish accent in films, regardless of the nationality of the character played, and rugged good looks. He has repeatedly been named as one of the most attractive men alive by various magazines, though he is older than most sex symbols.
So let’s say a father, petroleum engineer, is offered a job in Scotland. He has a 15 year old son and a 19 yr old daughter. The daughter has a few autoimmune conditions like Lupus etc. The mother/wife is dead and no other family is around to take care of her. How would she be able to move with them? Work permits are difficult to obtain. Is there a way she could study or go to school there?
A question from Sara K: What’s the correct way to shorten these names (Scottish esp)?
We’re naming the tables at our wedding after Scottish inventors (my fiance, a Scot, teases me, an American, with his contention that ‘the Scottish invented everything’). Table names are meant to be short so people will remember them, so there will be a Kelvin table, a MacIntosh, etc. My problem is with Alexander Graham Bell and John Logie Baird. What’s correct? Bell or Graham Bell? Baird or Logie Baird? Any ideas?
Top answer:
Answer by mystery Just use Bell and Baird; they will know who you mean.

I’m going to Scotland (hopefully in a year or so). I’ve always been fascinated with castles & the whole Scottish culture. What is the best time of year to go & what region is best? I’m really thinking of going to the Highlands. I don’t want to go to a big "city"–I want to visit the smaller towns & the countryside. I also want to stay in a small bed & breakfast. I would love to stay in a castle, but I don’t know of any available. What are some sights I need to see? Any help is greatly appreciated!
