Taking a lowlands shire, that isn’t too close to the border – such as Renfrewshire – I went to and searched for the county name. Using the show places within 10 km tool gives a good list of local place names. Taking the first part of one location name and the second part of another – so that they sound real – but obviously picking on the more exotically Scottish sounding names.
