If you want to discover some of the wilderness of the Scottish Highlands then there is no better place to stay than Aviemore.
Located in the heart of the Cairngorms national park, the town offers numerous Scottish holiday homes that are perfect for a relaxing break in one of the UK’s most picturesque regions.
And regardless of what sort of holiday you want, a stay in a self catering castle in Aviemore or the Cairngorms is bound to give you lots of wonderful memories.
If you book your break in the winter then you will find that Aviemore gives you access to some of Britain’s best skiing and snowboarding runs.
You can head into the mountains each day to improve your skills on the slopes and then return to your Scottish castle to warm up and enjoy the evening.
Beginners and experienced skiers and boarders are both well catered for, with courses to teach you the basics on the slopes or sessions to improve your techniques both available.
If you would prefer to find castles for rent in Scotland during the summer months, then don’t worry, there is plenty to do in the Highlands all year round.
Simply escaping into the forests and wilderness for a day of hiking or cycling should be enough to relax you and let the stresses and strains of everyday life drain away.
However, if you enjoy a bit more action on your holidays, then the Cairngorms will not disappoint.
You could spend a day canyoning and gorge walking, allowing you to discover some of the surrounding countryside in a new and exciting way.
The pastime takes you along the streams and rivers of the Highlands, with natural water chutes and waterfalls among the highlights of day spent scrambling around in the water.
You can always choose to go up rather than get wet on a break in Aviemore. Treezone is easily accessible from the town and this high-flying course will surely have your adrenalin pumping.
Follow the series of rope bridges and swings through the Highland treetops, allowing you to appreciate the landscape from above the ground.
And when you’ve finished your day of excitement, you can always return to your Scottish castle for some relaxation and start planning what you’re going to do for the rest of your break.
