I'm sure a lot of Americans wrote replies. The dumb thing about it is, Britain never granted independence to the United States, the US took it by military force. French help was needed at the time, but it wouldn't be needed anymore. American independence is not Britain's to revoke, which the e-mail seems to imply. Pretty smug of whoever wrote it, I think. If anything, Britain is at the beck and call of the US. If a US president really wanted to and had the backing of the people, he could maybe force Britain to become a territory of the US... or else.
