well ive never been in scotland but i love scotland … its strange i know lol.. but can somebody tell me how is it?,,,, is scotland expensive?… and any details of that wonderful country

I think a lot of people here are going to base their answers on stereotypes. As a Scottish resident, hopefully I will be able to help you.
Could you be more specific please, any questions. I will be happy to help. Is Scotland expensive, do you mean travel arrangments? Well, it’s not really, flights are on the rise because of fuel prices but as for transport there are cars you could hire, public buses, taxes or trains.
I would recommend that you travel both to the two main cities Edinburgh (capital, full of history) and Glasgow (largest, lots to do) and also the countryside to see the beautiful landscapes.

I’ve never been there either. However, my chiropractor went there last year and loved it. I don’t know for sure if it’s expensive, but my guess is probably. The dollar is very weak against European currencies right now. Even when I went to England 23 years ago, the British pound was much stronger than the US dollar.
In terms of what I know about Scotland, it’s one of the 4 countries that make up the U.K. It’s located to the north of England. I think Glasgow is the capital. Scotland has about 5 million people. It’s reputed to be a beautiful country of lakes, hills, farm fields, etc..
ooh im going there in the summer of 2009. im taking it with my family and we’re traveling to a bunch of countries like italy, germany and even more. im soooo excited!!!

I was stationed there for two years, 1987 – 1989. Lovely country. Wonderful, friendly people. Liked it a lot more than England.
The currency is the pound sterling, that runs about 2 to 1 against the dollar now, so $2 to get one pound. I thoroughly enjoyed my time traveling around the countryside. Loch Ness is something to see if you can.
Personally, I’m a history fanatic and it’s a great place for that. The flat (apartment) I lived in was built in 1632. Within 5 miles of home was a 1st century Roman camp, 11th century Irish tower, iron age hilltop fort and pre-historic burial barrow (mound).
There are castles spread out all over the countryside and great houses.
The country is small relative to what we’re used to in the states, only a few hours drive time from end to end. Rail is good for getting from city to city, buses run to most of the smaller towns and villages.
Weather is moderate, rarely gets above 80 in the summer and rarely below 20 in the winter, except in the Grampian Mountains (ski resorts).
Roses bloom March through December. The only "brown" months are January/February, then spring starts and it’s all green again.
If I had to leave the states, that’s where I’d go.

the thing that’ll probably dissapoint you most is the weather, it rains a lot, especially on the West coast. The scenery is fantastic though – you must travel up the west coast to see the best of this. edinburgh is the capital – it is a small city but very beautiful. Glasgow is the biggest city, not so dramatic but still a lot of magnificent architecture and the locals are very friendly!!
Do visit fife (St andrews obviously) but also the ancient capital of Scotland – Dunfermline, the birthplace of andrew carnegie and where many Scottish kings are buried in the grounds of the ancient abbey.

I bide in scotland. Aberdeen. Scotland is sometimes cold and rainy but i rarely feel the cold. We do get sun allot of the time though. We are nice people. Scotland is very expensive at the moment especially petrol. The country has a lot of beautiful countryside and magnificent architecture. You should try and visit Orkney. I used to bide there and its a lovely set of wee islands, locals are very friendly but it is rather expensive and the weather can be a tad on the cold side.
A word of warning if you are ever in scotland dont ever call us british or english because we’ll set aboot ye.
