Johnny asked:
Will I be able to get by just knowing English and what is the usual language that they order stuff in resturaunts and stuff?

And what percent of the country is fluent in English? Enough that I could ask someone on the street for the time in English and it wouldn’t be considered rude?

I hope to God this isn’t a serious question.
I think you’ll be able to get around just about anywhere in Scotland speaking English as somewhere around 100% of Scots speak English.
You should be fine speaking English since it is the official language of Scotland.
really? wow. I sure hope you have someone to hold your hand through every step of your travels. This is a cringeworthy question.
I could understand a question along the lines of ‘would I be able to understand the thick Scottish accents?’ but I’m pretty sure Scotland and the rest of the countries in the United Kingdom speak English.
You will come across people through out the UK and Ireland that can still speak fluent Gaelic (just listen to the Aer Lingus flight crew when they go through their speeches) and other old languages, and a lot of the villages have extremely difficult names to pronounce. But everyone, unless they’re some Eastern European immigrant that came over stuffed in a lorry, speaks English.
i am not even scottish and i find this rude and very ignorant!!
anyhoo yes you can speak english, and they will not find it rude!
English is the language of Scotland. The only people that have difficult speaking English in Scotland are the yanks, who speak a bastardised form of the language.
Eh!
Your mean too say that Scotland has its own language… ahahaha no they speak English but they have Scottish accents.
