Glasgow is the second largest shopping centre in the UK. You can shop at many major UK high street stores, smaller boutiques, department stores and a wide variety of specialty shops, including craft and antique shops to suit every taste and interest. The city centre has three pedestrianised main thoroughfares: Sauchiehall Street, which features, among other things, pre-Christmas stalls, stands and an outdoor market, and Argyle Street, running parallel to each other and joined by Buchanan Street which runs from north to south. Along these main streets are shopping malls such as the Sauchiehall Street Centre, the Buchanan Galleries, the stylish and hip Princes Square, the beautiful St Enoch Centre, and the bright and sunny atriums of the Argyle Arcade. There is also the weekend Barras market, located in the city’s east end and a stone’s throw south from St. Mungo’s Cathedral and further east, the enormous Parkhead Forge mall. Heading towards the city’s West End, you will also find smaller boutiques and specialised shops, including De Courcy’s Antique Craft Arcade for an interesting array of antique and craft shops, designer homeware boutiques, clothing shops and vintage record stores.
Depending on when you are visiting there are different things going on -
Glasgow has beautiful parks and fantastic museums -
The nightlife in Glasgow is really good -
It also has the tallest cinema in the world -
Hope you have a great time in Glasgow!
Now activities there are lots for such a small country!
Scotland has beautiful scenery and is a great place for walking, cycling, climbing and all sorts of active sports. You could walk the West Highland Way – 95 miles from Milngavie, on the outskirts of Glasgow to Fort William.
You might like to visit Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, where there are plenty of opportunities to cycle, canoe and jetski.
Glasgow is home to many museums and galleries too, all FREE., and has a year-round calendar of festivals and events.
You could take a seaplane trip from Glasgow City Centre to Oban – it’s a breathtaking trip.=-s-rLiLpY…
In Oban you could take a wildlife boat trip – go whale-watching, visit seal colonies, or go sea kayaking. Alternatively, you could fly to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. On Mull, you could try your hand at fishing, explore the woodlands, or if you’re a wildlife enthusiast, take a boat trip to see whales, dolphins, seals, or on dry land, eagles and birds of prey. Tobermory also has one of Scotland’s most picturesque golf courses.
If you’re a golfer, visit St Andrews, home of golf. Visit the picturesque fishing villages in Fife: Anstruther, Crail, Pittenweem
Elie, St. Monans.
Edinburgh is of course, home to Edinburgh Castle, but if castles aren’t your bag, there’s plenty of museums and galleries. Tour the old town for a taste of mediaeval Scotland.
For a great train trip take The West Highland Line which links the fishing port of Mallaig on the west coast to Glasgow. It is one of the most scenic railway lines in Britain.
The best shopping for big highstreet names is Glasgow for more higher end shops the best place is Edinburgh. Also within those two cities there are lots of smaller boutiques where little treasures can be found.
Whatever your doing have fun!
