Traveling to Ireland and Scotland Next Summer-Any Pointers?

My best friend and I are planning a backpacking trip around Ireland, and then Scotland for next summer. I have been to Europe twice already-but never actually planned the trip on my own.
Any suggestions on a good place to start would be appreciated!

Yay, that is going to be great! I went to Ireland and then Scotland the summer of 2007.
I have an article published with tips and a suggested itinerary for Ireland that might be helpful:

Also, here are some good pictures of the Highlands and Isle of Skye in Scotland:

I’m not sure where your flying from into Ireland but once your in Ireland you can get a cheap flight into Scotland on Ryan Air.
I’m sure you’ve already looked into it, but the Isle of Skye is the perfect place to backpack. I can’t wait to go back someday. It is BEAUTIFUL and the people are so nice.
For backpacking in Ireland, the Dingle Penninsula is beautiful, and also the Clifden area near Connemara National Park, as well as the Aran Islands. Have a wonderful trip, hope this helps a bit.
