Question posed by Niamh: Cheap flights to Scotland in winter?
I’m planning on going to Scotland this year around Xmas/Hogmanay time. Since it’s winter, it’s usually the off-season but with the holidays prices are still not as cheap as I thought they’d be. Does anyone have any recommendations for websites with deals or cheap flights? My dates are flexible.
Oh yeah, I live in Phoenix, AZ.
Chosen answer:
Answer by Yankees34 as a matter of fact the holidays along with the summer months are the most expensive periods to travel. There is no secret website or anything to get cheaper tickets, just remember to purchase your tickets 8-12 weeks before departure to insure yourself the cheapest possible ticket, since its the holiday give yourself 8-16 weeks before departure start researching 16 weeks before see the pricing trends and buy when you think it will be the cheapest which should be around the 10-12 week mark.
A question from borogailybev: holiday parks in scotland?
preferably lodges/wood cabins but caravans will do. Big plus – needs a child friendly bar on site. (Not a mad alkie but my dads coming away with us and 7 nights is a long time to sit in a cabin looking at each other! )

Question by Saul: How do you move to and work in Scotland as a US citizen?
I want to move to Scotland and work for a year. How do you begin this process? I am also a US veteran who receives a pension each month. Will this be affected?
Most comprehensive answer:
Answer by Irv S To work in a foreign country, you need a ‘work’ visa,
(different from the more common ‘tourist’ or ‘student’ visa),
which must be applied for from their consulate.
Sorry, don’t know for sure about the pension.

Question posed by : How do I become a body piercer in Scotland?
I stay in Ayr, South West Scotland and it is something I have always fancied I just don’t know how to go about it?
Chosen answer:
Answer by isabelle xDDD Do what all my friends have done ^-^
Go to a professional and reputable piercing studio by you, get to know them and get pierced if you’d like by them and see how you like the studio and people working there, then bring up the subject of you’ve always wanted to be a piercer and ask for a apprenticeship there The owner/main worker should train you up, let you watch people being pierced etc

Magnus Magnusson did a good history of Scotland that is surprisingly readable. ‘Scotland , The story of a Nation’, ISBN 978-0-00-653191-3 at 16 pounds. Magnusson wrote a number of good history books.
Antonia Fraser wrote a good biography on Mary Queen of Scots.
You can also find books on the kings and queens of Scotland in some bargain bookshops.
